Cathedra & Seals

The Cathedra is the chair of the bishop. It is a symbol of his authority in the diocese. As a particular city is the seat of a county, because of its significant role in that county, the cathedral is the seat of the diocese. Along with the cathedra, the seals of the diocese and of the bishop are displayed in the church. The seals of the bishop and the diocese are mounted above the sanctuary space along the back wall. Seals from the current auxiliary bishop and previous bishops can be found mounted near the front entrance to the cathedral.
